Lynda Draper, Glimmer
Lynda Draper’s ceramic practice is all about innovation. Her recent survey exhibition at Campbelltown Arts Centre, Glimmer, presented in 2026, recognised a long and influential career in clay.
We asked Lynda when she first realised she might spend upwards of four decades working with clay. Her answer was simple: “high school”.
Draper was drawn to clay’s tactile, flexible qualities and its versatility as a medium.
“It’s the alchemy of the process and the surprises it can bring,” she explained. “There’s always a part of the process that’s out of your control, often giving rise to great expectations, wonder and sometimes disappointment.”
Lynda envisions an exciting future for craft in Australia, where craft practices are increasingly recognised as valuable and essential , offering a meaningful counterpoint to our increasingly technology-driven world.
